The Foundation for Sight & Sound turns dreams into possibilities by helping those without sight and sound learn, live, and work better.
The Library Project's Mission:
To give everyone the opportunity to read and spread ideas!
Visiting the public library has become more fulfilling for those with visual impairments. The Foundation for Sight & Sound provides assisting technologies to many local libraries. By enhancing the magnification of computer and CCTV screens we are bringing printed word to life for all.
Unfortunately, due to municipal budget cuts, local libraries are being forced to cut funding for assisting technology. The suggested retail cost for this type of equipment is approximately $4,600. Even in these difficult financial times, however, the FSS has been able to help sponsor many libraries in need.
Since the project's launch in 2005, 24 local libraries have received assisting technology, they are:
