Sight and Sound … our two most precious senses.

They color our world with majestic landscapes and children's laughter. These two senses connect us to the world and the people around us.

Yet millions of Americans are legally blind and/or profoundly deaf and live in a world devoid of these pleasures. This is just part of the story, for visual and hearing loss are often partial, degenerative or intermittent, leaving millions with a diminishment of senses that impair their everyday functioning.

These conditions touch the lives of nearly all of us by association with a parent, a child, a loved one, a friend...

While the FSS stands for enhancing the quality of life for people facing vision and hearing challenges - regardless of their origin - it is important to note some of the main diseases and conditions that cause the loss of SIGHT & SOUND.
