Chef Salony began his culinary career at 15 years old when he was a summer apprentice at the Waldorf Astoria in 1979. There, he had the opportunity to work with many world renowned chefs. After graduating from high school he worked as a sous-chef for the Linden Tree restaurant in Bethpage, an American restaurant under the direction of his mentor, Chef John Catilanato. Later, he attended NYIT School of Culinary Arts earning an Associates Degree. He then followed Chef Catilanato to Jonathon’s Restaurant Branford, Connecticut a French inspired American restaurant working as sous-chef. Eventually he returned home to Long Island and worked at a number of restaurants before joining the Singh Hospitality Group in 1997 . As The Singh Hospitality Group grew in prestige and size Chef Salony worked his way up from Chef de Cuisine of Singleton’s to Executive Corporate Chef of the entire restaurant group. During his career he has opened several restaurants with Long Island chef legend, Tom Schaudel, including Passionfish, Tease, The Mansion and Thom Thom restaurants. In 2008 Chef Salony has received a three-star review from Newsday as well as a “Very Good” from Joann Starkey of the NY Times for his latest high-end restaurant, The Delano Mansion at The Woodlands in Woodbury. He has also recently revamped The Singh Hospitality Group’s latest acquisition, the world famous Water’s Edge Restaurant and Catering Facility in Long Island City, N.Y. Salony also has participated in many charity and industry events on Long Island and in the tri-state area.
